Kenali Pelakon Anda - RALPH FIENNES
Lahir 22 Disember 1962, seorang pelakon berbangsa Inggeris. Beliau telah muncul dalam beberapa buah filem terkemuka antaranya The English Patient, In Bruges, The Constant Gardener, Strange Days dan Maid in Manhattan.
Beliau juga turut dikenali dalam lakonan watak-watak jahat yang hebat seperti: Amon Goth (penjenayah zaman perang Nazi) dalam filem Schindler's List; pembunuh bersiri Francis Dolarhyde dalam filem 2002 Red Dragon; watak Rameses II dalam The Prince of Egypt; dan Lord Voldemort dalam filem bersiri Harry Potter. Yang terbaru, beliau muncul dalam filem The Reader (2008), In Bruges (2008) The Hurt Locker (2009) dan sebagai Hades dalam filem Clash of the Titans (2010).
Beliau turut memenangi anugerah Tony Award dan turut tercalon untuk anugerah Academy Award sebanyak dua kali. Beliau juga merupakan duta UNICEF UK. Beliau disenangi ramai dan dianggap paling layak untuk menerajui watak Lord Voldemort di dalam filem saga Harry Potter.
Latar Belakang Kehidupannya
Fiennes dilahirkan di Ipswich, anak sulung kepada Jennifer Lash (1938–1993), seorang penulis berketurunan Inggeris/Irish, anak kepada Mark Fiennes (1933–2004), seorang petani dan jurugambar. Bapanya adalah seorang bangsawan iaitu Sir Maurice Fiennes (1907–1994).
Fiennes ada pertalian darah dengan Putera Wales. Beliau adalah anak sulung daripada enam orang adik beradik, adik- beradiknya juga mempunyai darah seni sepertinya; Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love, Luther, FlashForward); Martha Fiennes, seorang pengarah di dalam filem Onegin); Magnus Fiennes, seorang komposer; Sophie Fiennes, seorang produser filem; dan Jacob Fiennes, seorang aktivis pecinta alam. Adik angkatnya, Michael Emery, adalah seorang ahli arkeologis. Saudara lelakinya Hero Fiennes-Tiffin turut berlakon di dalam file Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince sebagai Lord Voldemort ketika muda.
Keluarga Fiennes beroindah ke Ireland pada 1973, menetap di West Cork and County Kilkenny untuk beberapa tahun sebelum berpindah ke Salisbury di England. Fiennes mendapat didikan di Kolej St Kieran selama setahun, kemudian di Newtown School. Di Salisbury , Fiennes menamatkan persekolahannya di sekolah Bishop Wordsworth dan kemudian menyambung pengajian kolejnya di Chelsea College of Art.
Karier
Fiennes mendapat latihan drama di Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Beliau memulakan karier dalam dunia teater di Open Air Theatre, Regent's Park dan pada lewat 1980an, di National Theatre sebelum menjadi bintang terkenal di Royal Shakespeare Company. Kemunculan Fiennes di layar perak bermula pada 1990-1992 sebagai Heathcliff di dalam Wuthering Heights bergandingan dengan Juliette Binoche, di mana beliau menerima pujian dan diiktiraf lakonannya di seluruh Eropah.
1993 merupakan tahun bertuahnya. Beliau diberikan peranan watak yang besar dalam filem yang penuh kontroversi iaitu The Baby of Mâcon, arahan Peter Greenaway. Tidak lama selepas itu, beliau semakin dikenali melalui filem yang memaparkan lakonannya yang memberangsangkan iaitu filem arahan Steven Spielberg iaitu Schindler's List. Di dalam filem itu, Fiennes terpaksa menambah berat badannya untuk menyesuaikan dirinya dengan watak yang diperannya. Melalui filem ini beliau telah tercalon untuk Anugerah Academy sebagai Pelakon Pembantu Lelaki Terbaik. Beliau tidak memenangi anugerah Academy tersebut, namun beliau memenangi anugerah Pelakon Pembantu Lelaki Terbaik di dalam Anugerah BAFTA. Lakonan belaiu sebagai watak Göth dalam filem Schindler’s List turut meletakkan namanya di dalam senarai 50 Pelakon watak Jahat Teratas American Film Institute.
Pada tahun 1994, beliau muncul dengan watak Charles Van Doren, seorang akademia Amerika dalam filem Quiz Show. Tahun 1996 beliau telah dicalonkan sekali lagi dalam Anugerah Academy untuk kategori Pelakon Terbaik bagi filem epik percintaan Perang Dunia Kedua iaitu The English Patient di mana beliau berlakon disamping Kristin Scott-Thomas. Fiennes telah berlakon dalam banyak jenis filem iaitu filem bercorak thrillers (Red Dragon), filem animasi epik (The Prince of Egypt), filem nostalgia (The Avengers), filem komedi romantik (Maid in Manhattan), dan filem sejarah (Sunshine). The Constant Gardener, sebuah lagi filem lakonan beliau tahun 2005. Filem itu dibuat di Kenya, sebuah kawasan miskin di daerah Kibera dan Loiyangalani. Keadaan kemiskinan di situ telah memberi inspirasi kepada produksi ini di mana mereka akhirnya telah membuat satu tabung Dana Khas yang dinamakan Constant Gardener Trust untuk membantu anak-anak penduduk tempatan khususnya di dalam pendidikan asas dan Fiennes adalah penaungnya.
Fiennes melakonkan watak Lord Voldemort di dalam filem bercorak fantasi Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005). Beliau turut memegang watak yang sama di dalam filem Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix dan Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, yang telah ditayangkan dalam dua bahagian pada tahun 2010 dan 2011. Walaubagaimanapun di dalam filem Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, di mana terdapatnya babak imbas kembali ketika Voldemort berumur 11 tahun – watak itu telah dilakonkan oleh anak saudara Fiennes iaitu Hero Fiennes-Tiffin.
Lakonan Fiennes dalam persembahan teater Faith Healer (2006), telah mengangkat nama beliau untuk tercalon di dalam Tony Award (2007). Dalam tahun 2008, Fiennes turut terlibat berlakon teater di bawah arahan Jonathan Kent sebagai watak utama di dalam teater Oedipus the King di National Theatre di London. Tahun 2008, beliau telah melakonkan watak sebagai Duke of Devonshire di dalam filem The Duchess, dan watak utama dalam filem The Reader.
Pada Febuari 2009, Fiennes telah dijemput sebagai tetamu khas di Festival Filem Belgrade. Di sana beliau turut berlakon di dalam filem Coriolanus. Di dalam filem The Hurt Locker (2009), Fiennes telah berlakon bersama bersama pelakon terkenal Kathryn Bigelow. Pada April 2010, beliau telah berlakon watak Hades bersama Liam Neeson, yang melakonkan watak Zeus di dalam filem hasilan semula 1981 iaitu Clash of the Titans. .
Fiennes juga dijangka akan muncul dalampembikinan filem adaptasi novel John le Carrél, iaitu Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, di bawah arahan Tomas Alfredsonn.
Kehidupan Peribadi
Fiennes telah bertemu dengan Alex Kingston, seoorang pelakon berbangsa Inggeris, ketika kedua-duanya masih menuntut di Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Selepas menjalinkan percintaan selama 10 tahun, mereka berkahwin pada tahun 1993. Namun usia perkahwinan itu tidak panjang dan mereka bercerai pada tahun 1997. Pada tahun 1995, Fiennes menjalinkan hubungant dengan Francesca Annis, pelakon teater yang ditemui ketika berlakon bersama di dalam teater Hamlet. Selepas 11 tahun bersama, mereka berpisah pada Febuari 2006.
Pada tahun Febuari 2007, seorang petugas kapalterbang Qantas dalam penerbangan dari Sydney, Australia ke Mumbai, India telah mendapati Fiennes keluar dari tandas kapalterbang bersama seorang pramugari Qantas Lisa Robertson berusia 38 tahun. Fiennes mengaku telah mengadakan hubungan seks dengan Lisa Robertson walaupun pada awalnya menafikan perbuatan tersebut.. dikatakan ketika itu Fiennes sedang dalam lawatan rasminya sebagai duta UNICEF ke Mumbai untuk menyertai Kempen Kesedaran Mengenai AIDS! UNICEF mengekalkan tugas Fiennes manakala Lisa Robertson telah dibuang kerja!
